Abstract

Al-Biruni (362 AH/973 AD-440 AH/1048 AD) is one of the Muslim scholars who has played a pivotal role in various branches of science throughout the ages. He was a pioneer of science and has made outstanding contributions to almost every branch of science. At the end of the tenth century, when a stagnation almost engulfted the world of science, Al-Biruni was one of those who, in the pursuit of knowledge, saved science from serious stagnation. That is why it is no exaggeration to say that Al-Biruni is the foremost among all the famous men who created new trends in the world of science in the middle ages and led science in a new direction. Al-Biruni's biography is very significant for those who judge the golden moments of life in terms of principles and ideologies and hope to build their lives around those. His objective and impartial research in Indian epistemology has given him a permanent place in history. He is called the ‘Founder of Indology’. Nevertheless, the Muslim Ummah seems to have forgotten the contribution of Al-Biruni in recent time. Therefore, this paper highlights Al-Biruni’s contributions to science to familiarize the new generation with his life and contribution with glimpses of Al-Biruni’s short biography, books and his outstanding contribution to the connection of Mulsim Arabia in various branches of Science.
