Abstract

Samar Sen, a Marxist poet and progressive activist, tried to build a new poetic movement. He also tried to point out the inequality of capitalist society, economic oppression and inhuman deprivation in his poetry. As an intellectual poet, he controlled his emotion and passion and dispassionately wrote about the socio-economic and political realities of India. He observed the sufferings of common people, hunger, and other crisis of the poorer section of people and became a citizen poet but Marxist in thought. This paper is an attempt to find out how he became a poet of intellect and with the force of emotions and excitement how he tried to unveil intellectual power.
