Hunayn ibn Ishaq was a Nestorian Christian scholar and scientist from Hirat. He was also an eminent translator of the Abbasid period. The translation work of ‘Baitul Hikma’ was carried out under his supervision. Due to which he was awarded the title of ‘Sheikh of Translators’. His contribution to the Arabization of Greek science has left the world forever indebted. Although he had a reputation as a translator, he was also a medical scientist. He has made significant contributions to the field of ophthalmology by writing books. Hunain established himself as a knowledgeable, reliable and skilled translator through hard work. Travelling widely, he collected an informative collection of Greek manuscripts. Later, in translating those manuscripts, he tried with great care to translate them in the most informative way, which has made him especially memorable in the pages of history.
