Abstract

Buddhadeb Bose is a major writer of Bengali literature. The range of his writings is huge and extensive. He is creative and thoughtful at the same time. He wrote a large number of poems, fiction and prose including research articles. There is also a confusion regarding where his excellence lies. We can understand his approaches to literary criticism by reading his prose writings, the main area of his diverse writing. Reading of his prose works gives a new direction of knowledge. As a matter of fact, he surpassed creative writing by his prose writing, in which he appears as a critic. This paper presents a convincing idea about the origin of Buddhadeb Bose’s prose and his humorous prose style.
